If you already have pupil contact details saved in your phone, you can easily import them into the Total Drive app. This saves you time and helps prefill key information automatically.
Steps to Import Pupils
1. Open the Pupils Section
From the home screen, tap the person icon at the bottom to access the Pupils list.
2. Start the Import Process
Tap the plus (+) icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
3. Grant Contacts Permission
You'll be prompted to allow Total Drive access to your phone's contact list.
Follow the on-screen instructions to enable this permission.
For iPhone users: If you don't see the prompt, you may need to manually enable access. Go to your phone Settings > Privacy > Contacts and toggle Total Drive to allow access.
4. Select Your Contacts
Once permission is granted, tapping the plus icon will let you select single or multiple contacts.
You can either:
Scroll through your contacts alphabetically, or
Use the search bar to find a specific name quickly.
5. Auto-Fill the Pupil Profile
When you tap a contact name, the app will automatically import and prefill their basic information into a new pupil profile (e.g., name and phone number).
Finish Setting Up the Pupil
Before saving, review and complete the remaining details:
Send App Invite: Ensure "Send App Invite from My Phone" is selected so the pupil receives login access to the app.
Waiting List: Toggle this on if the pupil isn't ready to be moved to Active Pupils just yet.
Advanced Options: Tap here to add further details, such as:
Full address
Secondary phone number
Any additional notes
Save the Import
Once everything looks correct, tap the tick (✓) icon in the top-right corner to save.
Your imported pupil will now appear in the Pupils tab, ready for you to manage, schedule lessons, and track progress.
Tip: Importing from your contacts is a great way to quickly onboard multiple pupils at once—perfect for driving schools with high student turnover or new intake days.
